Warm Up Solutions
Explain why each ordered pair is or is not a solution to the graph.
- (1, –1)
Sample: This is not a solution because points on the dashed line are not included as a solution.
- (0, 0)
Sample: This is not a solution because it is not in the shaded region that is true for both linear inequalities.
- (6, 3.5)
Sample: This is a solution because it is in the shaded region that is true for both linear inequalities.
- The intersection point of the lines
Sample: This is not a solution because it is not in the shaded region that is true for both linear inequalities and both lines are dashed.

Note
Even without a given system of inequalities, you should be able to determine if an ordered pair is a solution by estimating that point on the graph. An ordered pair is true for all inequalities, only where the shading is darkest.
